What an Industrial Piercing Involves
It’s technically two separate piercings through the upper cartilage of the ear, aligned precisely so a single barbell can pass through both. That alignment is the hardest part to get right — even a small placement error can affect healing and comfort, so this is not a piercing to get from an inexperienced studio.
Pain and Healing Time
Cartilage piercings are more sensitive than earlobe piercings, so expect a sharper, more noticeable pinch during the procedure itself. Healing typically takes anywhere from six months to a year for cartilage to fully settle, though initial soreness usually fades within a few weeks. Following aftercare instructions closely matters more here than with almost any other piercing.
