Piercing gets treated as an afterthought by a lot of studios in Lahore, squeezed in between tattoo appointments with a piercing gun and minimal explanation. It shouldn’t be. Here’s what to actually look for before you book a piercing anywhere in the city.
Needle, Not Gun
A proper piercing studio uses a sterile, single-use needle rather than a spring-loaded piercing gun. Needles cause less tissue trauma and allow for more precise placement, while piercing guns can’t be fully sterilised between uses and tend to cause more swelling and complications, especially on cartilage.
Visible, Verifiable Hygiene
You should be able to watch fresh, sealed needles being opened in front of you, see gloves changed, and see the workstation wiped down between clients. If a studio can’t show you this without being asked, that’s a red flag regardless of how the finished piercings in their portfolio look.
Appointment-Only Beats Walk-In Crowding
Piercing placement matters just as much as tattoo placement, and a rushed five-minute walk-in appointment rarely allows for a proper look at anatomy, symmetry, and jewellery sizing beforehand. Jewellery Quality Matters More Than People Realise
Cheap, low-grade jewellery is one of the most common causes of prolonged irritation and rejection, especially for cartilage and nose piercings. Implant-grade titanium or surgical steel, properly sized for the piercing, makes a measurable difference in how smoothly healing goes.
Aftercare Instructions Should Be Clear and Specific
Ear, nose, and body piercings all heal differently and on different timelines, and generic advice isn’t good enough. You should leave with specific instructions for your exact piercing, not a one-size-fits-all pamphlet.
